Can't wait to go to Africa!!

This week, we began discussing the different regions on the African continent, and we are extremely excited about going there! Here is a single venn diagram we completed to find out how many friends wanted to go to Africa!

We love to celebrate our birthdays!

We had such a great time learning about each of our friend's birthday. Please enjoy viewing some of the data we collected as we learned about each friend's special day!

We discussed that 11 was the most, 4 is the least, and 7 is between these two numbers! We sure are smart!
We enjoyed reading all of our favorite nursery rhymes as we learned to identify rhyming words! Here are two itsy bitsy spider stories we read! As you can see from our data, Itsy Bitsy, the Smart Spider was our favorite!!!

Shape Party

We had a wonderful time eating through all those delicious shapes! Please enjoy the pictures of our party!

Our "Tour of Italy"

Thanks so much to each of you for supporting us at our School House Rocks Program and our "Tour of Italy." I hope you enjoyed learning about this wonderful country from your smart little tour guide. Here are some pictures I took on this special day.

Hatching Chicks

We are so excited that we have eggs in our classroom that will soon hatch into chicks. Just like the farms in America, the farms in Italy have chickens, too! We keep these in an incubator to keep them nice and warm, just as if their mother hen was here. We can't wait to see the baby chicks! Check out the chart we made of all the different "chick facts" we've learned.

Fun with the Pigs

Today, we read the story,  My Lucky Day about a little pig that continued to outsmart a fox! Then, we made a web of what we would do on our lucky day. Their responses were great! I hope you enjoy our web!

All About Pigs

In theme, we've been researching very hard to learn about our favorite Italian farm animal, the PIG!!! Here are some of the facts we have learned. Next week, we will begin construction.

Celebrating Dr. Seuss

We have been very busy this week as we have prepared to celebrate the March 2 birthday of the famous children's author, Dr. Seuss! We have read many of his most famous stories! We have loved listening to all the rhyming and "Silly Seuss" words that he uses. After reading Green Eggs and Ham, we made a web of green foods. I hope you will enjoy reaading our favorite green foods!

Check out our comparison of two of our favorite Three Bears Stories!

Constructing our Dolphin for the Mediterranean Sea

These smart little people are working very hard to create our baby dolphin, or a dolphin calf as we know.

First, our stuffing crew members, Mark and Jaiden stuffed bags. We measured them to be sure they were close to four feet, the size of the dolphin calf.

Then, Kirby helped Mrs. Shope use packing tape to shape the bags to create the tail, fins, and other parts of the dolphin. Next step, we paper mache! Stay tuned for more updates!

Paper mache is complete! The dolphin looks great! Next, we paint!
